Get excited because this is the first of MANY interior design posts i'll be doing on my blog. In November of last year, I bought my very first HOME! It's very adult of me... but I guess it's about that time ;-)

I knew that when the time came for me to finally do this that I wanted a total project. I wanted something that I could make completely my style and taste, because where is the fun in having a cookie cutter house that looks like everyone else's?! I've been living through this renovation since February, and we are finally finished with a few rooms on the first floor! The first photos i'm sharing are of my eat-in kitchen area (which i'm IN LOVE WITH!) and a glimpse of my living room.

This house doesn't really have a proper dining room, so I knew I wanted to save as much space as possible but also somehow create maximum seating at the table. I did two things to accomplish this: I had a banquette built in under the window which could technically seat up to five people, and it doubles as the perfect display for my throw pillow obsession. At my house it's either just me here, or I have a BIG group of friends over - so to give me a few more seating options without sacrificing space and style, I decided to grab these two Alaya stools from ARTICLE. They slide perfectly under the table when not in use, and double as a foot rest as a bonus. I love the soft, warm texture they add to this space, and they are each handmade so every stool is unique! If you love these, they also make an Alaya Rug that is stunning.

One of the biggest purchases I knew I would make for the first floor was a sofa. I've always wanted a leather couch, but man are they pricey! I was super picky about wanting something that was in the mid-century modern family but timeless looking enough that I wouldn't get tired of it. I searched and searched until I FOUND THE ONE! This Sven Sofa is the perfect color of tan, it's the perfect size for my room, and best of all it wears nicely which was super important since clearly Feather will end up on here as much as I will. This sofa is full aniline-leather and was less than half the price of every other couch I found that met my style expectations. It shipped fast for only $49 and has gotten the comfort approval of even my skeptical mom who "hates leather couches" :)

You can find both the SVEN SOFA and the ALAYA collection at www.ARTICLE.com and they have tons of other great quality finds at affordable prices. You're gonna want it all - don't hate me!!! xx
